Twice a week I randomly generate two dates and then compare the titles I own from both of them, trying to find some covers that, with a little basic photoshopping, I can mash together, and then I force the results on you lovely people.
By the way, I admit to being HUGELY influenced by the wonderful Super-Team Family blog which has been doing this for years (and a lot better) on an almost daily basis.
Everyone remember when John Stewart became a Guardian, complete with red cape? No? You do surprise me.
Ooooooh nice cover. No I really didn’t know he was a guardian for time. I’m guessing this was pre-MOSAIC right? Looks like it might be.

At the end of MOSAIC, actually – became a Guardian and hung around on Oa for a little while then, in an issue of DARKSTARS it was revealed he’d lost his powers and was back to being John Stewart.
And it was never mentioned again…

Well that was weird. Wonder why Gerald Jones decided to make John a guardian in the first place then.

I kind of had the feeling that’s what he was working toward and then, when it got cancelled, he brought the whole Guardian thing forwards. A couple of months after MOSAIC ended, Hal Jordan lost it and became Parallax, leaving John as a loose end that was tied up in DARKSTARS about six months later.

The only thing weirder than seeing John as a Darkstar was Donna Troy back then.

I kinda like Donna as a Darkstar, to be honest – at the time, writers didn’t really know what to do with her, but making use of her experience in heroics while still keeping her in print, it seemed like a good fit.

Sure, true, but still weird considering she wasn’t a GL or even associated with that side of the DCU at all until she dated Kyle.
