Hunting around on the net for something else entirely, I came across an article about MILLENNIUM in Amazing Heroes #126 and have included it here.
It’s mostly writer Steve Englehart and editor Andy Helfer talking about how the story came to be and its genuinely held good intentions to show diversity with the new characters.
There’s a paragraph toward the end that, with hindsight, did make me think they’d overstated the importance and impact these New Guardians would have on the DCU:
The phrase “new blood in the DC Universe” would come back to haunt them, I’m sure!
