Dark Crisis Crossovers 6

DARK CRISIS: YOUNG JUSTICE #6

As the team prepare to take on Mickey Mxyzptlk, Impulse secretly whispers something in Wonder Girl’s ear. She goads Mickey, telling him that he’s nothing more than a child trying to control toys, and he explains that he saw what Pariah was doing with the League and giving them their own dream worlds, which is what he tried to do for Robin, Superboy and Impulse.

Red Tornado receives an SOS about the battle outside the Hall of Justice (as seen in DARK CRISIS #6) but Mickey, realising the team won’t accept him as a good guy, becomes their villain and removes their powers and turns Cissie to stone, Robin into a vegetable, Superboy invisible, and Red Tornado into a human. Impulse appears and tries to use a quantum entanglement trap on Mickey but he needs more power. Superboy realises that even when the team was originally together, Wonder Girl was the strongest of them, and he apologises to her for how they treated her back then.

Wonder Girl confronts Mickey again, saying he was afraid of them together and with their powers, which explains why he separated them. Mickey, spurred on by Impulse, returns all their powers as he claims he’s not afraid of them. Impulse pulls the same quantum entanglement trap from the speed force and now, with the help of the other heroes, has enough power to banish Mickey for good.

With Mickey out of the way, the team head to the Hall of Justice and the battle in DARK CRISIS #7.

DARK CRISIS: THE DARK ARMY #1

In DARK CRISIS #5, Robin recruits Dr Light, telling the other heroes he has a plan, just before Deathstroke launches his attack on the Hall of Justice. Here in DARK CRISIS: THE DARK ARMY, Robin formulates his plan and recruits Dr Light, Sideways, Power Girl, and Red Canary in the heat of the battle, just before Superman (Jon) takes on Doomsday as seen in DARK CRISIS #6.

Using Sideways’s power to move between worlds, they end up on Earth-53, a desolate world which was once populated by apes, including ape versions of the Justice League. Robin mentions that he has “borrowed” a watch from Mr Terrific to trace the source of Pariah’s dark chains. The team find one of the Monitor’s Cosmic Tuning Forks from the first CRISIS, and Power Girl reacts angrily, unhappy about being near the Fork. She refers to being plugged into it and used as a battery, an approximation of what happened to her in INFINITE CRISIS.

Shadow demons arrive and as Power Girl takes Robin the the platform near the top of the Fork, Dr Light protects Sideways and Red Canary, using her light based powers to hold the demons off. Robin starts up the Fork and uses a control console to find out where to go to find and take control of the chains. Dr Light again defeats the demons, allowing the whole team to jump through Sideways’s rift.

They arrive at the Monitor’s ruined satellite, now the House of Heroes, in the Bleed, and find the Orrery of Worlds. Robin activates the Harbinger AI who immediately wants to shut down again as it was using all its resources to protect the Orrery from the now possessed Justice League Incarnate. The League arrive and attack the Orrery, Harbinger explaining that if they gain access, the Great Darkness will be able to corrupt the entire multiverse at once. Robin tells Dr Light to enter the Orrery first and she does so, connecting with the multiverse.

Just as the team are almost defeated, Dr Light returns transformed and is able to remove the chains from Justice League Incarnate, freeing them from the Great Darkness. Dr Light tells Robin that she is unable to break the chains at the source, so instead he recruits the League and heads back to Earth and the battle against Pariah and the Dark Army.

As an aside, the timing of Robin leaving and recruiting his team isn’t the only continuity error in this issue. Power Girl is shown in DARK CRISIS #6 as serving with the Justice Society in protecting the multiverse, something that Robin actually refers to in this issue, so she couldn’t have been with this team.

DARK CRISIS: WAR ZONE #1

On Time

Iris West reports from the battle outside the Hall of Justice and, as she saves two children who have been caught up in the chaos, she and they are in turn saved by the now-superpowered Linda Park. Iris uses Barry’s passcode to get into the Hall’s panic room-cum-weapons store, and they arm themselves (and armor the children) before returning to the outside. They battle various villains as the war goes on around them, until they’re able to deliver the children to police officers, just as the Justice League arrive.

Just When I Thought I Was Out…

Jim Corrigan drives into the battle, but has to bail out of his car when the top half of the dismembered Frankenstein lands on the hood, crashing the car. He continues on foot to where a giant Spectre is attacking an equally enlarged Raven, both of them casting spells at each other. The Spectre, to Corrigan’s surprise and disgust, uses heroes as ammunition, hurling them at Raven until she collapses, her magic wearing off as she returns to normal size. Just before the Spectre moves in for the kill, Corrigan leaps forward and attempts to bond with the Spectre, giving Raven enough time to recover and cast a final spell that imprisons the Spectre and Corrigan within him.

Amazon Helping Hand

The Amazons of Themyscira are untouched by the Dark Army’s rampages and are grateful for it, but following the example of Queen Nubia and Wonder Girl, they are willing to enter the world and help where they can. As Queen Nubia, Wonder Girl, and the returned Wonder Woman battle the Dark Army outside the Hall of Justice, other Amazons are helping to rescue and tend to the wounded civilians who are caught up in the battle.

Make Our Confessions Long ‘Cuz When We Pray We Keep It Short

Arriving at the end of DARK CRISIS #6, the Green Lantern Corps are led by Guy Gardner and Jo Mullein in defending the heroes from the encroaching shadow demons who appear en masse. Gardner convinces Mullein that they have to stop the demons, that they cannot retreat no matter if they lose Lanterns in the fight, that if they start running now, they will never stop. Inspired by Gardner, Mullein rallies the Corps and together they prevent the demons from breaking through, even finding time to save Gardner from being overwhelmed. Eventually the demons break and retreat themselves.

Birds Of A Feather

Arriving from the House of Heroes (as seen above in DARK CRISIS: THE DARK ARMY) Robin is forced to save Red Canary and sends her to hide away, claiming she is a liability. As she hides in a damaged bus, she is rescued from the Dollmaker by Black Canary, her personal hero and inspiration. Black Canary convinces Red to accompany her and they re-enter the battle, Red gaining confidence with Black’s support and encouragement. Together, they take down multiple villains, and Red Canary is on her way to becoming a hero.
