Dark Crisis Crossovers 7

DARK CRISIS: BIG BANG #1

Towards the end of DARK CRISIS #7, the Flash (Barry Allen) said that he and Kid Flash were going to explore the new multiverse because “It’s a crime scene that we need to examine to make sure we’re all truly safe.

Here in DARK CRISIS: BIG BANG, the motivation’s different and a little more self-centred as Flash reveals to Kid Flash that he’s looking for the man who murdered him – specifically the Anti-Monitor who killed him back in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #8. With the restoration of the infinite Earths as seen in DARK CRISIS #7, Flash is concerned that the Anti-Monitor might be back (despite being defeated multiple times) and wants to check out the new multiverse.

What follows is a whistle-stop tour of parallel Earths, some new, some revisited, each with its own number. Most of them are filled with heroes trying to do the best they can, though Flash admits some worlds are darker than others.

On Earth-28, Flash finds the Anti-Monitor attacking that world’s heroes and despite wanting to escape his attention – as this was a reconnaissance mission – Kid Flash is captured. Flash gathers as much speed as possible to deliver a punch strong enough to push the Anti-Monitor through multiple different worlds and free Kid Flash. Not letting up, Flash continues beating him from one Earth to another, confident that he can defeat the Anti-Monitor until the villain turns the tables and sends Flash through even more worlds until they land on Earth-17, the home of the Atomic Knights.

Just as Flash is about to lose, Kid Flash arrives with heroes from multiple worlds in tow to lend a hand. They band together without hesitation and distract the Anti-Monitor long enough for Flash to come up with a plan. As the heroes manifest a gateway into the anti-matter universe, Flash once more gathers as much speed as he can, and delivers the final blow, sending the Anti-Monitor back into the anti-matter universe, sacrificing himself at the same time.

He is saved at the last minute by the Bat Lantern of Earth-32 and is able to say farewell to the heroes of other Earths before he and Kid Flash head home.

Finally, there are a couple of pages which detail a lot of the new Earths with their numbers and their noteworthy heroes or characters.
