Monday Mash-Ups #6

Back on my old blog, I ran a series of related posts on Mondays and I’ve been wanting to do something along those lines here.

So, and I admit to being HUGELY influenced by the wonderful Super-Team Family blog which has been doing this for years (and a lot better) on an almost daily basis, I’ve mashed up a few comic covers.

Each week I randomly generate two years and two months and then compare the titles I own from both those dates, trying to find some covers that, with a little basic photoshopping, I can mash together, and then I force the results on you lovely people.

I have to admit to being really happy with this one, especially getting Green Arrow’s and Hawkman’s hands interacting with Fire and Blue Devil.

Ah, the 90s Justice League didn’t end well, did it?

  1. That is some excellent work. You got that placement to work out perfect.

About all I know about the ’90s Justice League, other than the Ray was on the team for a bit, is Morrison almost killed the lot of them off to kickstart his run. I think Metamorpho was the only one that actually did bite the big one, though. I had no idea Obsidian was even on the JLA at any point.

    1. Thanks, Calvin – I’m happy with that placement.

Yeah, that 90s run didn’t end well; after Giffen and De Matteis left, Dan Jurgens had a solid run, then Dan Vado did nothing special, then Gerard Jones (whose stuff I had liked on Green Lantern) just drive it into the ground. That was the time of Power Girl’s mystical pregnancy and magical child that has since, thankfully, been forgotten.

And you’re right, only Metamorpho ended up dying while saving the others.

  2. Damn Gary, those hand placements tho!!!!
Seriously impressed here. Very well done on this.

Yeah the mid 90’s were not too good to the JLA until Morrison saved it. I really enjoyed the Giffen/DeMattetis and Jurgens runs (Jurgen’s run does not get as much appreciation as it deserves these days) but after that, ewww, just a huge Image comics-inspired mess.

The only other JLAers to get a worse exit fate was the Detroit team.
