100 Issues Ago January 2012

I came across this “100 Issues Ago” panel in an old JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA and thought I’d tidy it up and re-purpose it. If one month = one issue, what was I reading 100 Issues Ago?

The solicitation for this series had caught my eye, promising a blend of crime noir and Lovecraftian horror so picking this up was an easy decision to make. And I wasn’t disappointed; FATALE would go on to be one of the best stories I’ve read in a long while and this was a good first issue.

Meanwhile, DC were into month 5 of the New 52 and, as I mentioned last month, some titles were starting to plod and slow down (CAPTAIN ATOM and FURY OF FIRESTORM: THE NUCLEAR MEN chief among them) while others (FRANKENSTEIN: AGENT OF SHADE and DEMON KNIGHTS) were rewarding the risk I’d take on picking them up outside the usual Justice League/Green Lantern family of titles that I would normally pick up.

Dynamite had THE BOYS and Marvel had PUNISHER: MAX, both of which were doing splendid work.

Mash-Up #232 Flash and Supergirl

Hmm, if Barry’s position were different, maybe I could have gone with “Kneel before Kara!”

Mash-Up #231 Daredevil and Fighting American

Is it me or does Sons of Liberty sound like a 1970s Saturday morning cartoon?

Mash-Up #230 Power Girl and Iron Man

Looks like PG’s forgiven Iron Man for that whole attack on the JSA All-Stars thing. Good to see we can bury hatchets.
