Untold Tales #720 Flash and The Legion of Super-Heroes

The Flash of Earth-9 pays a visit to the 30th Century and it seems Superboy and Ultra Boy can’t help but compete for her attention – not that she’s complaining!

As an aside, this issue marks five years almost to the day since the first mash-up was published on this blog – it took until #10 before I called it CRISIS ON EARTH-PRIME PRESENTS and at the time was just adding one character to an existing cover of another series.

I think I’ve come on a bit since then. đŸ™‚

  1. I would certainly say so Gary. Happy 5 year anniversary!

Idk about you, but I certainly enjoyed Dan Jurgens’ DCU a lot, especially when it 1st came out. Definitely doesn’t get the love it should because it deserves a monthly or somewhat regular monthly anthology series featuring all of those cool reimagined characters.

    1. I have a fondness for most of Jurgens’ work, to be honest – and yeah, really enjoyed both shots at the Tangent stuff, as well as the occasional guest appearance some of the characters made here and there.

      1. Same here, especially his JLA run post-Superman’s death. Destiny’s Hand really made an impression on me, plus getting the return of The Atom helped.

  2. This feels like a story you’d see in the old LoSH, although in those cases, Flash would probably turn out to be a villainess, messing with the guys to destroy the Legion or get them to commit crimes for her or something.

I’ve never really warmed to Jurgens’ writing. I don’t dislike what I’ve read, it just doesn’t really spark any strong reactions. But I’ve never read any of the Tangent stuff, so maybe I should track that down.

    1. I enjoy his stuff on the whole – there’s some that’s better than others, but then that’s to be expected when he’s been around for so long.

The first Tangent stories are all collected and I think the Superman’s Reign mini must be available as well.
