Mash-Up #300 Animal Man vs Catwoman
Three hundred – something of a milestone, I think.
As I did for #100 and #200, I’ve followed the centennial issues from DC around the late 90s and used a black background with one or two-coloured figures over some big text.

1st off, congrats on reaching your 300th mash up. You’ve truly hit upon a fun and entertaining gimmick that you seem to excel at. I’m looking forward to your 3,000th mash up, which should come out in, like what, 4-5 years maybe? Keep knocking ’em out Gary.
2nd, only true 90’s comic fans will truly appreciate these centennial covers. I know I’m admittedly biased, but I prefer these simple but understated covers. I wish DC had continued using covers like these in an official capacity because they’re pretty damn cool.
3rdly, anyone showing Animal Man love is beyond cool with me. He doesn’t get enough of it I feel from DC these days.
Thanks, man – I’m still enjoying doing them though I have no idea how Ross over at Super-Team Blog manages one per day! And my 3,000th mash-up? At the current rate of 3 per week, you can expect #3000 on Wednesday 20 January, 2038! At this rate, it’ll take me five years to get to #1000! 😀
And yeah, I liked the centennial covers from the late 90s which is why I’ve chosen to emulate them – the simple, stark designs really worked, I though.
So…18 years away then. Hmm, well, hey, it’ll all fly by quick just like this year has (thankfully). Yeah I don’t know how he does it either. He has a Patreon account now, so I’m guessing he has paid suggestions, but before then for the longest time it was just his own brain used for team-up ideas.
I’m still using a random date generator I came up with in Excel to point me towards two separate months; I like the random approach that gives me, though full marks to Ross for consistently coming up with more logical pairings than I do.

He really does when it comes to that doesn’t he? Idk how he stays so fresh with ideas outside Patreon.
