He’s DEFINITELY not going to be happy about the fact that Stan Marvelized his counterpart and turned him into a wrestler 🤷♂️
I know I have to go back and reread all of those, but what are your thoughts & impressions about Stan’s version of the DCU? What characters did you like or not like & your overall verdict on the whole experiment.
As with Elseworlds, some of them worked, some didn’t. I think most of the big character ideas weren’t bad (Green Lantern and Wonder Woman for example) but others were a bit wide of the mark (Catwoman and Robin). Most of the character designs were pretty good, but the dialogue… oh man, Stan’s writing really hadn’t progressed much from the 60s/70s. He should have stuck with plot and let someone else dialogue them.
It’s been a while since I re-read the three trade collections so maybe in the New Year I’ll take a look again.
I definitely concur with your assessments so far as from what I’ve seen the examples you mentioned like Catwoman & Robin weren’t as conceived as well as some of his other reimaginings.
His dialogue has DEFINITELY not aged well & very much stopped developing after his runs on FF & Amazing Spider-Man ended. Some could even argue even before then. I know most of his projects with the exception of his work on the Silver Surfer failed to live up to his reputation.

That’s a big question…
