Dark Universe

Man, that makes me want to watch those old Universal films again!

Back when I was a kid (in the long ago 1970s) there used to be a double bill of horror films on the weekend and it was usually a black and white Universal classic followed by a blood drenched (at least to my young eyes) technicolour Hammer Horror film and it was these films that fuelled my love of, and interest in, the horror genre for many a year.

Universal’s new shared universe, starting with the soon to be released The Mummy, gets a collective name of Dark Universe as seen in the montage trailer above that showcases the original versions and while the trailers for the Tom Cruise film haven’t set my world alight, I’ll definitely be giving it a watch.

After all, it can’t be worse than Benicio del Toro’s dreadful The Wolfman.

Zack Snyder Off Justice League

I’m no fan of Snyder’s work and under pretty much any other circumstance I’d be happy to see him leave Justice League particularly as Joss Whedon is finishing it off . . . but deciding to quit because one of your children has died – man, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

My sympathies to the Snyder family.

Screw You, CBR!

I mentioned before about Comic Book Resources annoying me with their inclusion of spoilers in their headlines or at the start of their articles; because I still use a feed reader, I can sometimes be surprised by spoilers of comics, TV or films and I hate that.

I haven’t been reading The Button, the current crossover between Batman and The Flash, but I’m interested about the connections to the Watchmen and Rebirth mystery connection so have been keeping half an eye on things. Checking my feed over the weekend, I see this:

It’s the last straw, for me – I’ve unsubscribed from them partly because of crap like this, but also because of their annoying auto play videos and the seemingly never ending list based articles:

Seriously – what is the fascination with 15?

I’ll miss The Line It Is Drawn and the Comic Book Legends Revealed but apart from that, I’ll rely on other sources for my news.

War Of The Gods Annotations Done

Took a lot longer than expected – mostly due to having the entire house redecorated last year – but the War of The Gods annotations are finished.

I might wait just a little longer to publish them and tie them in with the forthcoming Wonder Woman Day on 3rd of June just for the hell of it.

It’s a toss up about what to do next – either Bloodlines or Millennium. Anyone have a preference?
