James Robinson continues his slow build of the New 52’s Earth-2 characters, introducing new takes on old characters, and dropping in hints of what’s to come – hints that, in some cases, wouldn’t come to fruition as it would only be another couple of months before Robinson would leave the title and DC as a whole for reasons unknown (at least I don’t think there was any clear reason given.)
That said, this was another enjoyable issue with the heroes dealing with the aftermath of Darkseid’s invasion, and the firepits that had been set on Earth, one of which Commander Steel is tasked with entering only to discover someone at the heart of it.
Elsewhere, Robert Venditti took over on the main GREEN LANTERN title and started a, for the most part, enjoyable run of a couple of years. PHANTOM STRANGER and STORMWATCH were just a mess at this point, and the JUSTICE LEAGUE books were barrelling towards the Trinity War crossover which means FOREVER EVIL is just around the corner.
15 books from DC this month, with one a piece from Image (the excellent FATALE) and Marvel (FURY MAX which finished this month.)
Crisis on Earth-Prime 
Trinity War. Is that the one where Superman’s heat vision is manipulated by an evil version of the Atom to kill a nice version of Dr. Light? I feel like that thing went on forever, but maybe I’m confusing it with Forever Evil (that’s when Grayson got unmasked on live TV right?)
For me, there’s two big changes. One, I’m done with Batman Beyond Unlimited, although this may have been the last issue, so I was done either way. Breyfogle and Dustin Nguyen weren’t drawing any of the stories any longer, and I just wasn’t into it as much. Leaves just Dial H and Katana for me from DC.
Remember how, when I bought Fearless Defenders, I said it was part of a stretch where Marvel did a lot of books starring female characters, while the creative teams were all still dudes? Well, second verse same as the first with the Brian Wood/Oliver Coipel X-Men series.
Besides that, Avengers Arena, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Hawkeye, and Angel & Faith. Atomic Robo skipped this month.

Yeah, Trinity War was quite short – six parts (I think) over three titles – and yeah, it was when Superman was forced into killing Dr Light by the Earth-3 Atomica. FOREVER EVIL which followed is the one that went on and on and on with multiple spin-offs. I know it’s on my list of events to annotate, but I’m not sure I’ll get round to it for some time.

That sounds like one of those “Hey look, we’re trying to be inclusive!” moments while still missing the point.
