Final Crisis Annotations Done

FC01Just finished bringing over the annotations on Final Crisis from the old site to this one; you can find the FC home page by clicking on the link on the right hand side or here.

Have to admit, it wasn’t my favourite series – it started well but as it went on, Morrison seemed to try and cram as many big ideas in as he could (and he does have some big, fantastic ideas) which led to a somewhat rushed ending that didn’t seem satisfactory to me.

But hey, what do I know?

Final Crisis Annotations

FC01Started work on bringing over the Final Crisis annotations from the old site to this one – I’d forgotten just how many tie-ins were included with this series. There was the direct stuff like Final Crisis: Revelations and so on, but also the Countdown series and spin-offs.

I’m so glad I don’t have to re-read Countdown

The origin of Crisis on Infinite Earths

Green Lantern 143Okay, maybe not the origin, but in the introduction to the Collected Edition, Marv Wolfman talks about a letter he received when he was writing Green Lantern in the early 80s. That letter prompted him to think about DC continuity and set him off on the path towards what would become Crisis on Infinite Earths.

As I have the issue in question – #143 cover dated August 1981 if you’re interested – I’ve scanned the original letter and Marv’s reply; you can find links to them from the Crisis home – the link’s in the right hand menu.

Three More Crisis Tie-Ins

DcRetroactiveSupermanThe80sI’ve added some notes to the Crisis page about two tie-ins that were published well after the event.

Two of them are written by Marv Wolfman, the original Crisis writer – the first is the Legend of the DC Universe special that acts as a sort of issue 4½ of the original series, the second a stand-alone piece written for the Retroactive series of one-shots which details Harbinger meeting Superman before the original Crisis begins.

The third is the final issue of DC’s 2015 summer event, Convergence. It’s included because its finale has a direct influence on the original Crisis.

You can find all the notes by clicking on the menu on the right.
