Mash-Up #32

Twice a week I randomly generate two dates and then compare the titles I own from both of them, trying to find some covers that, with a little basic photoshopping, I can mash together, and then I force the results on you lovely people.

By the way, I admit to being HUGELY influenced by the wonderful Super-Team Family blog which has been doing this for years (and a lot better) on an almost daily basis.

Hopefully Hawkgirl will end up in the pages of Hawkman at some point soon. I miss the pair of them being together.

Monday Mash-Ups #6

Back on my old blog, I ran a series of related posts on Mondays and I’ve been wanting to do something along those lines here.

So, and I admit to being HUGELY influenced by the wonderful Super-Team Family blog which has been doing this for years (and a lot better) on an almost daily basis, I’ve mashed up a few comic covers.

Each week I randomly generate two years and two months and then compare the titles I own from both those dates, trying to find some covers that, with a little basic photoshopping, I can mash together, and then I force the results on you lovely people.

I have to admit to being really happy with this one, especially getting Green Arrow’s and Hawkman’s hands interacting with Fire and Blue Devil.

Ah, the 90s Justice League didn’t end well, did it?

New Hawkman Series

For a while now, the number of DC titles I’ve been getting has slowly been decreasing.

Yesterday, though, I mentioned the new Plastic Man mini-series that will be arriving soon, and now there’s news of a new Hawkman ongoing written by Robert Venditti whose writingI’ve enjoyed for a while now.

Good work, DC – that’s another series I’ll be picking up from you.

Justice League Assembled

And when I say “assembled” I mean literally put together by my own fair/gnarled hands:

We all know the minifigs are the best part of Lego sets but to get a full set of Justice League figures would cost hundreds of pounds, which is money I don’t have . . . at least not to spend on myself. Sure, over the years I could buy sets for my nephews to get hold of the figures . . . but then I’d have to steal the minifigs from them and that would put a serious dent in my cool/weird uncle status.

Instead, I headed to ebay and found numerous sellers selling “custom” figures which makes me think they’re not entirely authorised but what the hell, eh? Twenty quid later and I have the Justice League in Lego minifig form stood on one of my shelves – not to mention the bonus Blue Beetle, Hawkman and Darkseid figures I picked up as well just for the hell of it.

I fear I may have inadvertently started a new collection . . . Justice Society next, maybe? Or the Secret Six for Mrs Earth-Prime?

Either way, I can take comfort from the fact that I can always blame my mate Spike for last year’s Christmas present. It’s all his fault.
