Garth Ennis’ series that royally rips into superheros, The Boys, appears to be heading to Amazon as a TV series, headed up by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the same producing pair who are behind the adaptation of Preacher.
After the mess that was the Green Hornet film, I was dubious of Rogen’s involvement but after two seasons, the Preacher show works a treat so I’ll be interested to see what they do with The Boys.
I wonder if they’ll keep the opening line:
Are they not the most inspiring opening words ever?
Never mind “The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.”
Forget “Call me Ishmael.”
Pay no attention to “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”
The opening line of Bloodbath #1 – “We don’t know where they’re from, or what they want . . . other than our spinal fluid.” – will surely go down in history as . . . well, as something.
Annotations for the two issue Bloodbath series that wraps up the Bloodlines event are now underway.

DC have released another variant for Doomsday Clock #1 and it’s gorgeous:
They’re clearly harking back to the black and white images that were done for the original series – you can see a Rorschach one that I posted here a few months back.
While that’s clearly Rorschach’s journal Batman’s reading, I can’t see how they could justify the character himself appearing. He’s dead on the Watchmen Earth so why would Dr Manhattan bring him back? Unless of course someone other than Manhattan were to bring him back . . . but that makes no sense either.
All will be revealed from November onwards, I guess.
There are a bunch of other blogs that I read fairly regularly and I realised that though I’ve had this site up and running for almost two years now, I’ve been very lazy with putting together a good, old-fashioned Blogroll. I worked out how to have images in the right hand side bar instead of just another list of links and have thrown together some logos for the blogs I read – more will be added over the coming days.
That got me to thinking about the lists I have for the series that I’ve annotated and those that are coming soon, so I spent an hour or so yesterday getting some mini-logos from those series and chucking them up in place of the list of links that were there.
So instead of this:

and so on.
